Now, when people use the word relaxed, the last thing that comes to mind is probably newborn sessions. And I get it. This phase of life can often feel anything but relaxed. However, it doesn’t have to be that way during your session. There are many steps you can take to make this session feel much more relaxed and easy going.
Not having to leave your space is a game changer. For one, no worrying about getting everyone out of the house on time. Two, if you have a toddler, you’ll have everything you need on hand to keep them happy. I find my families are far more relaxed when they are in the comfort of their own home during a session!
Capturing this stage of life is so important and it can pass before you know it. Hiring a professional that has experience with newborns can create a much more relaxing environment for everyone.
There’s no need to worry if the house is perfect, if your toddler is in a mood or if your dog is going to behave for photos. My favorite thing about capturing families in their homes is capturing their truest selves and what makes them unique.
Q: Why did you decide to do newborn photos in your home?
A: There is such ease of having it in your home! Not having to navigate the timing to get out of the house with a newborn (and a toddler!) takes such a weight off a new mama’s shoulders. It also felt so much more natural being in our own environment!
Q: What was your favorite part of your newborn session?
A: How comfortable Brittnie made us feel! We never felt super posed or stiff, it all felt very natural!
Q: What advice would you give a mama who is about to have a baby regarding having photos done?
A: DO IT! You will not regret getting newborn photos done! The newborn season is such a blur but having those photos to look back on is such a sweet memory!!
