Summer is here, and for many of us, that means juggling the chaos of managing our businesses and making the most of quality time with our kids. Let your Capture the Chaos planner come along for the ride!
Here are a few ways I’m using my planner to help keep me on track (and sane) this summer:
As many of you may already know, we moved this summer. Whether you’ve moved once or many times, you know the stress and the chaos that comes along with decluttering and packing up your existing belongings, keeping your current home staged and show-ready at all times, and searching for a new place to call home. And that all happens BEFORE you even physically move your belongings!
How I Used My Planner: To help me keep track of all the moving parts (pun intended!), I used the “Project Planning” section of my planner to list out all of our moving tasks, from packing to changing our address. I also used it to create reminders for myself for every random to-do, like scheduling an internet installer.
When it comes to my business, my planner has been by my side all summer as I navigate the balance of work with making the most of summer with my three kiddos. While my work schedule looks very different in the summer with my kids at home, I try to block out specific times for client meetings, editing sessions, and marketing to ensure that my business continues to thrive.
I also love to spend time making memories with my kids during the summer! We’re having a bit of an unplugged 90s summer at our house, so setting intentions for fun summer activities like sprinkler time, game nights, and summer walks as a family is also important to me.
How I Use My Planner: My kids are in summer camps, so workwise, I enter those dates and times into my planner, and then I strategically set aside those hours for calls and meetings. I also significantly cut down on the days I offer sessions each week, and I’ve embraced working in small pockets of time, even on the weekends. Family-wise, I’ve loved using the “Weekly Overview” section of the planner to generate a list of fun activities with my kids, like trips to the park, beach days, and craft time.
Self-care is important to prioritize as a business owner and a mama. For me, self-care may look a little different in the midst of the summer, but setting aside time for me is something I need to be at my best. Don’t forget to schedule some “me time” in your planner, whether it’s a quiet coffee break, a quick workout, or a relaxing bath!
How I Use My Planner: For me, “me time” looks like nap time. In our house, my kids have tech time while I’m resting. They also love to draw, which is a quiet, screen-free activity that I often suggest when I need time to reset!
I hope these strategies for planning a joyful summer amidst the chaos help you think of new ways to put your Capture the Chaos planner to work!
